Household cleaning

Enjoying a natural lifestyle doesn’t mean less choices. It means less hazardous substances that can be toxic and leave behind odorous fumes. It means choosing natural cleaning tools containing no harmful or dangerous chemicals. It also means having the confidence that the product not only does the job right, but it does the job safely. Making safer choices leads to a natural lifestyle that’s healthy and strong for you, your family and the environment.

What are PBDEs anyway?

Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers, or PBDEs, are chemical additives that reduce the flammability of everyday items, such as computer casings, carpet pads, cushions and mattresses. In recent years, scientists have discovered that:

  • PBDEs leach out of the items to which they were added and enter the environment. PBDEs are showing up in the air, soil and sediment, and are building up in animals throughout the food chain.
  • PBDEs travel great distances and have been detected in remote regions, turning up even in the bodies of polar bears in the Arctic. PBDEs are being found in everything from meat and dairy products to fruits and vegetables as well as indoor air and household dust. And because some PBDEs don’t break down easily, the levels of PBDEs in the environment are steadily rising.
  • In lab tests with rodents, some PBDEs have been linked to problems in brain development and thyroid hormones. Most of these problems stem from pre-natal exposure and exposure soon after birth. The health effects appear to be permanent.
  • PBDE levels in humans are about 10 to 100 times higher in the U.S., the world’s largest producer and consumer of PBDEs, than in Europe. Scientists say North American levels appear to be rising at an exponential rate, doubling every two to five years, while countries that have banned their use have seen levels decrease.
  • U.S. levels of PBDEs are rising. Studies have found them in human blood, fat and breast milk. Breast-feeding appears to overcome some of the effects of harmful chemicals and remains the healthiest way to feed babies.
  • Visit www.cozypure.com for lots of information and facts about how we don’t NEED to use PBDE’s or other chemicals in organic bedding.

    Kudos to you

Organic cotton is the purest form of cotton available, never coming in contact with any form of chemical treatments. Even the soil must be chemical-free for a period of three years before organic crops can be cultivated. It’s the safest, smartest, most natural choice for our families and our environment. In fact, one organic cotton teeshirt saves one-third pound of pesticides from polluting the earth. Over the past decade, our customers have literally prevented THOUSANDS of TONS of excessive chemical pollution, through their awareness and support of organic cotton fiber. Bravo… and a standing ovation!

    Because dust mites like cotton…

We’ve designed a quilted coverlet made from organic cotton! YIPPEE. It has just enough batting for warmth, quilted tight on organic cotton ticking to prevent bunching. And best of all? It’s machine washable. For years, other companies would offer organic cotton comforters, which can’t be washed, and we held strong in our belief to not offer this item since dust mites love cotton, therefore, it has to be washed. An unwashable comforter didn’t make sense (sure we could make money selling it – but we knew it wasn’t a good product – and we just don’t do that). We were so happy when our final prototype of this design proved well, test after test. And now it’s available to you. Organic cotton quilted coverlet that’s machine wash and dry. Another first… designed and introduced by CozyPure. Enjoy!

    Catalog Welcome Letter

When people see the catalog they assume I’m a granola eating tree hugger. Well, I don’t really like granola — but I do love trees! The thing is I don’t fit into any real stereotype. I’m pretty much a normal gal. But I do have a passion to feel fulfilled and rewarded by contributing what I can — while I’m here. And I think that’s also a normal feeling for most of us, especially as we get older.

Our little choices can make a huge difference in the overall scheme of things. Whether it’s empowering women or wearing organic cotton, there’s a tender spot inside that makes you “feel-good” knowing your small decision has a direct, positive impact on other people, our personal environments, as well as the lovely planet we all share and take for granted. Our products come full circle with that philosophy —offering you choices that benefit the big picture. So it doesn’t matter if you chomp granola (like my hubby) or you avoid it (like me), we’re all in this together. I’d like to believe that together we can make the world of difference. And now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going out in my backyard to hug a tree.
